CDS 2 Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates must meet all CDS 2 eligibility criteria before applying online. Failing to meet any eligibility conditions will lead to rejection of their applications.
Educational Qualifications
- I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai: Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
- For Indian Naval Academy: A degree in Engineering or B.Sc. with Physics as a core or elective subject from a recognised University/ Institution (with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level).
- For Air Force Academy: Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Age Limit
The CDS age limit differs as per the academy selected by the candidate. UPSC has specified the detailed date of birth conditions in the official notification.
- IMA: 19 to 24 years. Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 1st July 2003 and not later than 1st July 2008 only are eligible.
- Indian Naval Academy: 19 to 24 years. Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 1st July 2003 and not later than 1st July 2008 only are eligible.
- For Air Force Academy: 20 to 24 years as on 1st July, 2027, i.e. born not earlier than 1st July, 2003 and not later than 1st July, 2007. Upper age limit for candidates holding a valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 1st July 2001 and not later than 1st July 2007 only are eligible.
- Officers' Training Academy (SSC Course for men): 19 to 25 years. Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 1st July 2002 and not later than 1st July 2008 only are eligible.
- Officers' Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course): 19 to 25 years.
Nationality
A candidate must either be:
a Citizen of India, or
a subject of Nepal, or
a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
