Interview Important Questions for SSB Psychological Test 2025

The SSB Interview is an essential stage in many defence exams and every defence aspirant has to go through this stage in exams like NDA, AFCAT, CDS, CAPF etc.

The Interview stage checks the decision making and a scientific procedure of assessing the qualities of the candidate.

Four Psychological Test : SSB Interview 

The Four Psychological test is administered on the second day of the 5-day testing schedule as follows: TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), World Association Test (WAT), Situation reaction test (SAT), Self Description Test (SDT). 


The candidates have to go through these stages to qualify the defence exam.

Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) 

  • In this the candidate will be shown 11 black and white pictures and 12th a Blank slide.

  • Each picture will emerge for 30 seconds and will disappear. 

  • The duration of 4 minutes will be allotted to write a story about it.

  • After that another picture will appear for 30 seconds and 4 min  will be allotted to write a story. 


This TAT test is conducted to test the imagination and thoughts of the candidates. 

World Association Test (WAT) 

  • The candidate will be shown 60 words back to back.

  • Each word will appear for 15 seconds on the screen. 

  • In these 15 seconds you have to write the thoughts that come to your mind first. 


This is to check the spontaneous response of the candidate. 

Situation Reaction Test (SRT) 

  • The candidate will get a booklet with 60 situations written on it.

  • The candidates have to answer those 60 situations in their own words. 

  • The duration allotted will be 30 minutes. 

  • This will be a daily life situation that you encounter in your day-to-day life. 


Note: The candidate must answer spontaneously and imagine himself in this situation. 

Self-Description Test (SDT)


In this the candidates are asked to write about what the person below thinks about him/her. The duration given will be 15 minutes.

  2. Your Teachers 

  3. Your Friends

  4. You Yourself 


The candidate must write the positive as well as the negative aspect that these persons think about them.

Strategies to Clear SSB Interview in First Attempt

There are some strategies that candidates must know that they have to do and don’t have to do that are as follows: 


Do’s 


  1. Be well-prepared: Make sure to be prepared for every challenge and for the last moment preparation. 

  2. Dress appropriately: The dress code should be formal and maintain the decorum. This showcases your seriousness and professionalism.  

  3. Be confident and positive: To be confident and have a positive attitude the candidate showcases his personality.

  4. Participate actively:  Engaging in the individual task and ground activities can help you in the exam preparation. 

  5. Be honest and authentic : The candidate must be honest and his words should be authentic.
