The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 94th Air Force Day on 8 October 2026 at Air Force Station Hindan, Ghaziabad. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, reviewed the ceremonial Air Force Day Parade.

  • The Army and Navy Chiefs, former Air Chiefs, and senior military and civilian guests also attended.

Air Force Day 2026 Theme

This year’s theme was “Indian Air Force: Infallible, Impervious and Precise” (भारतीय वायुसेना: अचूक, अभेद्य व सटीक). It reflects the IAF’s commitment to guarding India’s skies with precision and resilience.

Parade Highlights

The event opened with the marching-in of the President’s Colours. Three Mi-17 1V helicopters in ‘Dhwaj’ formation gave an aerial salute while carrying the National flag and the IAF flag. Gp Capt Manish Sharma commanded the parade.

An investiture ceremony followed, where Air Warriors received medals for gallantry and distinguished service.

Five Unit Citations were presented to:

  • 24 Squadron ‘The Hawks’
  • 110 Helicopter Unit ‘The Vanguards’
  • 200 Squadron ‘Skanda’
  • 2402 Squadron ‘Vajra’
  • Electronic Warfare Range

Key Points from the CAS Address

Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said that “air power is the primary means of protecting the national interest.” He added that an air force’s real strength lies in its operational preparedness. On Operation Sindoor, he said the IAF’s quick move into combat operations showed both its destructive power and its effective air defence.

He called Atmanirbharta the IAF’s guiding principle. He said AI and autonomous systems would be integrated, with human authority kept at the core. He stressed that joint planning with the Army and Navy happens every day. He also described space as a natural extension of the air domain and pointed to growing collaboration with ISRO and the IAF’s role in the Gaganyaan mission.

Static Display and Performances

The static display included fighter aircraft, helicopters, surface-to-air and surface-to-surface guided weapon systems, radars, and one-way attack unmanned aerial systems. It highlighted the IAF’s focus on Make in India.

Team Shakti, the IAF’s all-women Air Warrior Drill Team, performed precision drill formations. The 33-member IAF Drummers Team also put on a lively display. The IAF Heritage Flight, featuring a vintage Tiger Moth, paid tribute to the legacy of Indian military aviation.

The Air Force Day aerial display will next be held at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, on 25 October 2026.

Why Does This Matters for Defence Aspirants?

The theme, unit citations, Operation Sindoor and Gaganyaan are likely current affairs topics for NDA, CDS and AFCAT GK. At Major Kalshi Classes, our defence current affairs coverage helps aspirants turn news like this into exam-ready marks.
