Indigenous ASW Systems On Its Way
Aerospace and Adani Defence has formed a partnership with Sparton DeLeon LLC, which is US-based and owned by Israel’s Elbit Systems, for the development and assemblage of advanced Anti-Submarine Warfare which will result in the strengthening of the Defence System.
This partnership focuses on the local production of sonobuoys-devices used to detect and track submarines- promoting India’s ‘Make In India’ and ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
Till now, India has always imported technologies, but this partnership marks a significant step toward building its own capabilities.
Through this partnership, Adani will become the first private Indian firm to offer indigenously produced sonobuoys. It consists of Sparton’s cutting-edge technology with Adani’s manufacturing experience thereby boosting India’s Defence Strength and Undersea Surveillance. Adani leaders say that this step is vital for national security and developing high-tech Defence skills in India. This also benefits Adani’s growing Defence portfolio, which includes drones and small arms through past collaborations with Israeli firms. This partnership is a significant step in making India more self-reliant in Defence.
