AFCAT Eligibility Criteria 2025: Age, Qualifications And Mode of Selection

AFCAT stands for Air Force Common Admission Test. AFCAT is a competitive exam conducted by the Indian Air Force to select candidates for Flying Branch and Ground Branch which includes both technical and non-technical branches. 

• The examination is conducted in two stages which consists of a written examination followed by the AFSB interview. 

• It is held twice a year (February and August approximately) and is eligible for both males and females who fulfill the criteria.

AFCAT Eligibility Criteria Explained 

The AFCAT (Air Force Common Admission Test) is conducted by the IAF (Indian Air Force) to recruit candidates for various branches.

Educational Qualification :-

Here are the educational qualifications required for AFCAT, based on different branches.

Flying Branch

• Graduation in any stream with an aggregate of 60%

                                  Or

• Graduation in BE or B.Tech with an aggregate of 60%.  

Technical Branch

• Graduation in Engineering ( Electricals & Electronics ) with an aggregate of 60%.

 Non-Technical Branch

• Graduation or Post-graduation in any stream with an aggregate of 60% and 50% respectively

Know The AFCAT Age Criteria for Each Branch :- 

The AFCAT age criteria for the various branches that the candidates have to follow are given as follows :- 

• For Flying Branch - 20-24 years while joining as of 1st July 2025.

• For Technical Branch - 20-24 years while joining as of 1st July 2025. The candidates should be born between 2nd July 2002 to 1st July 2006.

• For Non-Technical Branch - 20-26 years while joining as of 1st July 2025. The candidates should be born between 2nd July 2000 to 1st July 2006.

Mode of Selection :- 

The Mode of Selection for AFCAT involves the multiple stages that are as follows -

• Online Written Examination which includes five sections- General Awareness, English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test.

• 5 Days SSB Procedure

Day 1- Screening Test - Intelligence Test ( Verbal & Non Verbal Reasoning Test ), Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT).

Day 2 - Psychological Test & Interview - Thematic Appreciation (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), Self Description Test (SDT), Interview of some candidates by President/Deputy President.

Day 3 - GTO Task & Interview - Group Discussions (GD), Group Planning Exercise (GPE), Progressive Group Task (PGT), Half Group Task (HGT), Group Obstacle Race\Snake Race (GOR) Lecturette, Interview of the remaining candidates.

Day 4 - GTO Tasks & Interview - Individual Obstacles (IO), Command Task (CT), Final Group Task (FGT), Interview of the remaining candidates.
