India has developed a powerful new missile called BrahMos-NG (Next Generation), which is smaller, faster, and smarter than the earlier version. This missile, made with the help from Russia is designed to be used by fighter jets like the Tejas Mk14, giving the Indian Air Force a big advantage.

The BrahMos-NG is seen as a major boost to India’s military strength with its high speed, accuracy, and ability to avoid enemy defences, especially against threats from Pakistan.

BrahMos-NG Rewrites the Rules of Air Warfare: Precision at Mach 3.5

Developed by India and Russia, the BrahMos-NG (Next Generation) is a smaller, lighter, and faster version of the original BrahMos missile. It has been designed to give India a major edge in aerial warfare, especially against rivals like Pakistan.

Its characteristics includes:-

  • Compact and Lightweight: Weighs about 1.3–1.5 tons and is much smaller than the original, so even light fighters like the Tejas Mk1A can carry two of them.

  • Blazing Speed: Flies at Mach 3.5 (over 4,300 km/h), making it extremely hard to stop.

  • Hard to Detect: Its small size and stealthy materials make it difficult for radar to track.

  • Highly Accurate: Uses advanced AESA radar for precise targeting and strong resistance to jamming.

  • Versatile: Can be launched from jets, ships, land vehicles, and even submarines.

BrahMos-NG is compact and lightweight as it weighs about 1.3–1.5 tons and is much smaller than the original, so even light fighters like the Tejas Mk1A can carry two of them.

It has blazing speed as it flies at Mach 3.5 (over 4,300 km/h), making it extremely hard to stop.

It is really hard to detect because its small size and stealthy materials make it difficult for radar to track it.

It uses advanced AESA radar for precise targeting and strong resistance to jamming and therefore it is highly accurate.

It is highly versatile as it can be launched from jets, ships, land vehicles, and even submarines.

Pakistan’s Chinese-made air defence systems (like HQ-9 and HQ-16) struggle to detect or intercept the BrahMos-NG because it flies fast and low.Their radars have very little time (under 10 seconds) to respond.Even electronic jamming doesn’t work well due to BrahMos-NG’s advanced anti-jamming tech.In Operation Sindoor (May 2025), India reportedly used BrahMos missiles to hit 11 of 12 key Pakistani air bases, overwhelming their defences.Hemce, BrahMos-NG will prove to be a great challenge because of the above reasons.

Especially during times of tension with Pakistan, The BrahMos-NG gives India a major strategic advantage. It’s fast, deadly, and nearly impossible to stop is a real game-changer in modern warfare.
