The Indian Army has launched Operation Shiva 2025, deploying over 8,500 troops to secure the annual Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage routes in Jammu & Kashmir, according to official statements.
The operation includes close coordination with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and civil authorities to create a multi-layered security grid.
Under Operation SHIVA, the Army has established a counter-unmanned aerial system(C-UAS) grid featuring 50+ anti-drone and electronic warfare systems to negate any aerial threats. Live surveillance is in place via UAVs (drones) and high-resolution pan-tilt-zoom cameras along both routes, Nunwan‑Pahalgam and Baltal as well as at the shrine itself.Enhanced Security Measures and Technology Support
