The Army wants to fast-track this purchase under an “emergency procurement” and therefore a request for proposals has already been made so that the drones could be delivered quickly.
This purchase and production is a significant effort by the army to get more unmanned aerial systems. The nano drones will be used for special missions along India’s border with China, according to The Times Of India.
These drones will also help in counter-terrorism efforts and other military operations across the country. These drones are significantly important because they will reduce the risks in scouting missions as at present it puts the soldiers in danger. The army emphasizes on the production of better drones and advanced technology as there is intense tensions and unpredictable situations at the border. These nano drones will provide assistance to the soldiers by allowing them to monitor the area from the air and better situational awareness. The highlights that the chosen company must deliver all 850 drones within one year of signing the contract.
