NDA 1 2027 is on 11 April 2027, about 24 weeks from now. That is enough time if you finish the full Maths and GAT syllabus by 31 January, keep short daily NDA sessions through your board exams, and save the final weeks for timed mock tests.
Most aspirants who fall short don’t run out of hours. They run out of order. Calculus gets left for March, GAT waits behind Maths, and board exams quietly take over February.
This NDA 1 2027 6-month study plan fixes the order. You’ll get a month-wise roadmap for both papers, daily timetables for school students and droppers, a monthly checkpoint and a plan for the last 10 days before the exam.
What Should You Know Before Starting the NDA 1 2027 Study Plan?
The NDA 1 2027 written exam has two objective-type papers: Mathematics and General Ability Test (GAT). Both require separate preparation strategies.
Paper | Questions | Marks | Duration |
Mathematics | 120 | 300 | 2.5 Hours |
General Ability Test | 150 | 600 | 2.5 Hours |
Total | 270 | 900 | 5 Hours |
Marking Scheme: Maths awards +2.5/−0.83 marks, while GAT awards +4/−1.33 marks per correct/incorrect answer, respectively.
Key Takeaway: GAT carries twice the marks of Maths, but both papers require consistent preparation and accuracy.
How Much Time Do You Really Have Before NDA 1 2027?
From late October, you have about 24 weeks. These dates from the UPSC Calendar 2027 shape how you use them:
Milestone | Date |
Notification and form opens | 2 December 2026 |
Last date to apply | 22 December 2026 |
CBSE Class 12 board exams | Mid-February to early April 2027 (expected) |
Admit card | Early April |
NDA 1 2027 exam | 11 April 2027 (Sunday) |
Those 24 weeks cover two papers: Maths (300 marks) and GAT (600). Boards are the real squeeze. In 2026, Class 12 theory papers ran until 10 April, so this plan is built around that overlap.

Month-by-Month NDA 1 2027 Preparation Plan
The table shows what to study. This section shows how far each month should take you, and how to tell when it's done.
Before Month 1: Take a Baseline Mock This Week
Attempt one Maths and one GAT mock, and don't worry about the score. It shows your weak units before you plan a single week around them.
Month 1 (November 2026): Build Your Foundation
- Maths: Algebra first, then Matrices and Trigonometry. All three overlap with Class 12 board Maths, so the effort counts twice.
- GAT: 30 minutes of English daily, plus NCERT Physics and the Freedom Movement. Start a current affairs notebook with one page per month.
- Done when: Every chapter has passed three checks: concept clear, formulas noted, PYQs solved.
Month 2 (December 2026): Apply Early, Then Tackle Coordinate Geometry
- Maths: Analytical Geometry in 2D and 3D, then Vector Algebra. 3D and vectors share ideas, so study them back to back.
- GAT: Chemistry, physical Geography and Polity basics. Add subject-wise PYQs from 21 December.
- Don't miss: Submit the form in the first week of the 2-22 December window, not on the last day.
Month 3 (January 2027): Finish the Syllabus by the 31st
- Maths: Differential and Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, then Statistics and Probability. Calculus is the heaviest block, so give it the first three weeks.
- GAT: General Science, World History and one sectional GAT test every week.
- Done when: Every unit in both papers has been covered once. February is for maintenance, not new chapters.
Month 4 (February 2027): Protect Boards Without Losing NDA Rhythm
- School students: 30-40 minutes of mixed Maths PYQs daily, English and current affairs on weekdays, and one full GAT mock each weekend.
- Droppers: Start full-length mocks twice a week.
Key Takeaway: February is maintenance, not a pause. Stop NDA work completely during boards, and you risk spending March relearning what you knew in January.
Month 5 (March 2027): Switch From Learning to Mock Mode
- Begin full-length timed mocks as soon as your last core board paper is done.
- Review each mock the same day. Log every wrong answer as a knowledge gap, a careless slip or a time problem.
- Revise every monthly current affairs page you've made.
Month 6 (1-10 April 2027): The Final 10 Days
- Take full mocks on alternate days at exam timings: Maths 10:00 AM-12:30 PM, GAT 2:00-4:30 PM.
- Revise only from your formula notebook and error log. No new chapters.
- Download your admit card and check the route to your centre.
- Keep the last two days light, and sleep at your usual time.
How Should You Split Daily Study Hours Between Maths and GAT?
Study both papers every day, and adjust the ratio as the months go on. GAT carries 600 marks but builds slowly through reading and revision. Maths carries 300 and punishes every gap in practice, so dropping either one for weeks costs more than it saves.
Phase | School Student (After School) | Dropper |
Nov–Jan | Maths 1.5-2 hrs + GAT 2 hrs | Maths 3.5 hrs + GAT 3.5 hrs + 1 hr revision |
Feb to last board paper | Maths 30-40 min + GAT 1 hr | Two full mocks a week + 6 hrs topic revision daily |
Final sprint | Maths 3 hrs + GAT 3 hrs | One full mock + same-day review daily |
On weekends, school students can add two to three hours, mostly for mocks.
"Students think boards and NDA fight for the same hours. For PCM students, they mostly don't, because board Maths and Physics revision is NDA revision. What breaks the plan is dropping English and current affairs for six weeks." - Saurabh Singh, Academic Director, Major Kalshi Classes

How Do You Know You're on Track Each Month?
Hours logged don't prove progress. On the last Sunday of every month, run this five-point check:
- One timed Maths mock and one GAT mock taken and logged
- Every planned chapter passed: concept, formulas, PYQs
- This month's current affairs page complete
- Accuracy higher than last month, not just attempts
- Both papers comfortably above UPSC's 25% minimum [faculty sign-off]
If you miss two or more boxes, spend the first week of next month catching up before starting new chapters.
Three Mistakes That Break a 6-Month NDA Plan
- Leaving Calculus for March. It is the heaviest Maths block and the hardest to cram during boards.
- Pushing GAT behind Maths. GK alone carries 400 marks, more than the entire Maths paper.
- Guessing blind. A wrong answer costs 0.83 marks in Maths and 1.33 in GAT. In either paper, three wrong guesses cancel one correct answer.
How Major Kalshi Classes Helps You Stick to a 6-Month NDA Plan?
Most study plans don’t fail on paper. They fail in week nine, when boards, school and self-doubt hit at once. That is the gap we work on at Major Kalshi Classes.
- Pacing: Our classroom and online NDA batches teach Maths and GAT in parallel, so you don't leave either paper for March.
- Monthly checkpoints: Timed mock tests show your real accuracy, not just how many questions you attempted.
- Daily practice: Free PYQs and study material on MKC Learning Source keep your concepts, formulas and PYQ routine going.
- Syllabus-aligned books: MKC Publication’s NDA books follow UPSC’s syllabus and past papers.
- With 15,000+ online and offline selections, we’ve seen where six-month plans slip, and we help students catch it early.
Your First Week Starts Now
The plan comes down to three moves. Finish the full syllabus by January, keep NDA alive through your boards, and give the final weeks to timed mocks. That’s the whole NDA 1 2027 6-month study plan.
This week, take one baseline mock and set your Month 1 targets. And remember that the written exam is only the first gate, so read up on the NDA selection process 2027 early.
