Operation Sindoor was launched as retaliation to the deadly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, in May 2025. It was a strong response to counter terrorism and protect the border. India had to move its tanks and other military forces right up to the Line of Control for the first time. Hence these initiatives clearly showcase that India is ready to take tough action against any threat and counter terrorism from across the border.

T-72 Tanks To Strengthen India’s Border Defence Along LoC

India launched Operation Sindoor as a retaliation to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on May 7,2025.
India successfully deployed T-72 tanks right up to the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector in response to counter terrorism which was marked as a bold and strategic move.

These tanks, along with armoured vehicles, artillery, air defence, and infantry, were used to stop terrorist infiltration and respond to Pakistani aggression. 

Enemy posts that were destroyed by Indian forces, helped the terrorists cross into India.

Operation Sindoor targeted nine major terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) out of which six were successfully destroyed. 

Pakistani air bases were struck by the Air Force and multiple drone attacks were also intercepted by the Air Defences which proved to be bold and strategic.

One Pakistani shell was found to be faulty, thus exposing their weak defences and poor training strategies. 

On the other hand, India reported zero casualties, while Pakistani forces lost around 65 personnel.

Hence these T-72 tanks played a significant role in showcasing India’s indigenous defence capabilities and in order take it more effective and powerful, a new $248 million deal has been signed with Russia.

Indian forces remain on high alert although the active fighting between the two countries ended on May 10 and therefore the message is quite clear that any future attack will be met with full force and in a bold and highly strategic manner.
