India has denied media reports claiming it lost fighter jets during Operation Sindoor. The Indian Embassy in Indonesia said the Defence Attache's remarks were misunderstood and taken out of context. The real aim of the operation was to strike terrorist camps without escalating tensions.

India Denies Reports About Jet Losses During Operation Sindoor

Jakarta: India has strongly denied recent media reports that claimed an Indian Defence official confirmed the loss of fighter jets during Operation Sindoor.

The Indian Embassy in Indonesia said these claims were taken "out of context" and misrepresented what the official meant in his presentation.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Embassy clarified,

"We've seen media stories about a presentation made by the Indian Defence Attache at a seminar. His comments have been misquoted and misunderstood. The actual message and purpose of the presentation have been wrongly reported."

The Embassy also explained that the presentation was mainly about how India's military is under the control of elected civilian leaders, unlike some neighbouring countries.

It also highlighted that the main aim of Operation Sindoor was to target terrorist infrastructure and that India's response was carefully measured to avoid escalating tensions.

Earlier in May, Reuters published a report quoting India's Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Anil Chauhan.

In the interview, Gen. Chauhan admitted that India suffered some losses at the beginning of Operation Sindoor.

However, General further emphasized that these losses were quickly dealt with as the Indian Armed Forces responded with powerful airstrikes deep in Pakistan.

Gen. Chauhan said:

"Yes, on May 7, we did face some losses in the initial phase, but the exact number isn’t important. What matters is understanding why those losses happened and what we did next. We fixed our tactics and launched fresh strikes on the 7th, 8th, and 10th—this time, in large numbers—hitting their bases deep inside Pakistan with full force and barely any resistance."

According to Reuters, these powerful airstrikes damaged Pakistan's key military facilities like radar systems, control stations, and airbases.

The report described Operation Sindoor as a clear show of India's military strength, which pushed Pakistan into a defensive state.

Despite the risk of conflict with a nuclear-armed neighbour, India managed to carry out these large-scale, precise counter-terror operations without letting the situation spiral out of control.
