How to Calculate Marks in the NDA Exam 2026 with With Examples

In NDA papers, negative marking is ⅓ of the marks allotted to each question for every wrong answer.

What are the Formula

  • Final Marks =  (Correct × Marks per question) − (Wrong × ⅓ × Marks per question)

Steps to Calculate Marks in-

Mathematics

Each question carries 2.5 marks. The wrong answer penalty is - 0.833 (i.e., ⅓ × 2.5).

Example - candidate attempts 100 out of 120 questions:

  • Correct: 80 × 2.5 = 200
  • Wrong: 20 × 0.833 = 16.67
  • Final Maths Score = 200 − 16.67 = 183.33

 GAT

Each question carries 4 marks. The wrong answer penalty is - 1.333 (i.e., ⅓ × 4).

Example -  candidate attempts 120 out of 150 questions:

  • Correct: 90 × 4 = 360
